Palamòs is a city with its 15.000 habitants is situated at the Costa Brava in
the lowlands submontane of the coastal mountain range. You can enjoy 7 sandy
beaches and countless bays with the clear water its own. Two harbours are also
within the city. The older one is the fishing harbour where you can see fish
auctions and the marina has just been built in recent years and therefore
Palamòs fulfils all the qualifications necessary for any kind of water sports.
Aside from downtown interesting archaeological relicts can be admired, antic
monuments and buildings, like the Iberian settlement at Castell Beach, Iberian
ruins, the medieval castle of Sant Esteve at La Fosca Beach, the Villarromà
Palace at Bell Lloc, the Church of Santa Maria del Mar (dating from the 15th
Century) or the Church of Santa Eugenia Villarromà (dating from the 16th
Century) in the centre of the city.
Playa d`Aro, once was an insignificant part of the town of Fanals d` Amunt.
Today Playa d`Aro is a cultivated and lively tourist town and at the same time
an important business centre. Along the main street where you can enjoy the
animated Mediterranean atmosphere you will find plenty of shops and boutiques.
At Playa d` Aro you will find the longest beach of the Costa Brava, as well as
countless sandy bays like the Sa Conca, known as one of the most beautiful bays
of the coast, inviting you to relax and swim in the sunshine. On all beaches the
blue flag of the EU is flying and the quality of the water is outstanding.
Should you like to take a trip away from the beaches the Castell d` Aro near
Platja d`Aro or the ruins of the Benidormiens dating from the 11th century e.g.
lend themselves as destinations. |
