Our Tipp:
Click on impressions and photos and enjoy a tour throughout this
nice holiday region in Spain at the Costa Blanca.
Moraira is located between Valencia to the
north and Alicante to the south. Within a bay which can be used
as a natural port, Moraira is imbedded into the surrounding mountains
of the Bernia.
Moraira, the former fishing port of the town
Teulada, is today an important centre of attraction for the tourism
at the Costa Blanca. One will find no large hotels or high building
here. During the structural evolution of the town the environment
was always respected and so the place could retain its original
look.
Only one thing now remains - to kick off your
shoes and walk over the soft white sand of the beach into the crystal
clear water. This coastal strip of Moraira has everything; the beaches
are not over-populated, and you even have a choice of sand, rocks
or pebbles.
The oldest inhabited place of the township
of Teulada dates back to Palaeolithic times and was located at the
Cave of la Cendra. This cave was inhabited until Calcolithic times
(2.8000-2000 b. C). From Iberian times, still some archaeological
sites remain such as the Morro Castellar and the Punta del Cap d'
Or, as well as another one from Roman times, which survived until
the beginning of the 7 th. century.
Under Arab occupation, there were only some
scattered inhabited places. In 1244, Teulada was conquered by the
troops of Jaime 1 and was handed in by this monarch to the Lord
of Rebolledo belonging later on, to Admiral Roger de Lauria from
Aragon and to the Duke of Gandia. In 1386, the municipality of Teulada
was legally created.
The town has outstanding traffic connections
and accessibility to two international airports in Alicante and
Valencia, in a distance of approx. 90 km. Motorists can reach Moraira
trough the Autopista A 7. |
