Javea is a friendly fisherman place and lies between the cape of St. Antonio and the cape of La Nau. It is protected by the imposing and splendid mountain massif of the Montò; (753m). The clean and pleasant Mediterranean, with its beaches of white fine sand and romantic concealed bays, surrounds marvelous beaches, rock cliffs and small islands. The town Javea retained its interesting historical heart with facades from tufa, Gothic windows, iron balcony and window grating as well as bright inner courts. The church St. Bartholomaeus is built in the late-Gothic style; their defensive character can be recognized in different elements of the construction. The house of Felipe Bañuls, a small palace from the beginning of the 17th century, is now a day the Archaeo-logical and Ethical Museum Soler Blasco, which houses prehistoric, Iberian, Roman, Medieval, Islamic and Christian finds. To mention particularly is the Iberian treasure of Jávea-Xábia. The inspection of the local church, Santa Maria de Loreto is a must for all visitors. It was built in the sixties and shows an expressionist architecture. In the nature park of the Montgò (Les plan's) one can find windmills of the 14th to 18 century. Aduanas del Mar is the dock area and a tourist meeting place. The beach area El Arenal is the trading center in the summer.
