The Costa Brava is a 160-kilometre stretch of beautiful, rugged coastlines in the region of Catalonia in the north east corner of Spain. Often translated as "wild coast," the Costa Brava is a paradise not only for the wild-spirited. The Costa Brava stretches from Blanes, 60 km northeast of Barcelona to the French border. The Costa Brava boasts with amazing golden beaches, rocky gorges, unspoiled nooks, sheltered coves, and some of the most attractive scenery in the Mediterranean area. The coast is filled with high-rise resort developments and modern marinas catering to package tourists, but retains enough green hillsides and lonely, wild cliffs, coves and caves to belie its reputation as one of Europe's busiest holiday destinations. Certainly the perfect holiday escape.

Climate:
The Costa Brava usually has hot summers in July and August, with temperatures reaching well over 29C. Winter months can become chilly, with January being the coldest month. Costa Brava is wetter than the southern regions of Spain, with rainfall of 1,000mm per annum in average.

Attractions:
Whether you like diving, sailing, waterskiing, here on the Costa Brava you will find one marina to another and Empuriabrava, the largest and finest marina in Europe is a dream for each skipper. The little Venice of Spain offers you the possibilities, to drop anchor with your boat directly in front of you house. Rosas is the biggest resort at the northern stretch of the Costa, Brava located just 30 kilometres from the French border. That fishing port, at the north eastern end of the wide, sweeping Bay of Rosas, is centuries old and a popular international holiday destination nowadays, which has managed to retain much of its original charm. To the south of Rosas, the resort of L`Estartit and L`Escala are located, where traditional Spanish fishing harbours rubs shoulders with a modern yacht marinas. This is a fairly quiet and relaxed resort which appeals to families with young children. One of its greatest assets is the fact that it overlooks the archipelago of seven Medes Islands one of the most important nature and marine reserves in the western Mediterranean. The protected Medes Islands have been dubbed 'heaven for divers'.

The next major resort to the south -and arguably the most attractive of all resorts on the Costa  is Tossa de Mar.The popular beach resort of Blanes is strictly speaking the southernmost point of the Costa. Capital of the Costa Brava is Girona, a walled city of Roman origin and located at a strategic point on the route between the Pyrenees and Barcelona.

Playa d'Aro offers 3 kilometres of busy beach, bars and shops. Palafrugell has maintained its position at the hub of its three coastal offshoots: Palamos, Calella de Palafrugel bis nach Playa d`Aro is situated at the eastern end of the wide bay that bears its name. Begur is a stylish town with a profound historical personality and the region of the Playa de Pals is a popular spot.

The Salvador Dali museum at Figueres is one of the region's most popular tourist spots along with the Benedictine Monasterry at Montserrat near Llanca. Europe's biggest water park is located just outside Lloret de Mar and the Marineland complex near Blanes is another hugely popular family day out with its dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows, water slides, reptile house and children's zoo. The Marimurtra Botanical Garden is an excellent and unique botanical garden with a large variety of plants from several continents and breathtaking views of sea and cliffs.
